In 1963, retired railroad executive Champion McDowell Davis began with a vision – to create a positive living environment for aging men and women. This vision inspired him to transform his family’s former peanut plantation into what it is today: a 54-acre not-for-profit community where seniors choose to live and where employees choose to work.

The community is managed by The Davis Community. It is independently owned and operated not for profit community with more than 50 years of financially stable management by a volunteer Board of Directors.

The Davis Community is a retirement community for adults. Prospective residents can come tour the community, choose from any of the available cottages or apartments and provide a partially refundable deposit to reserve your home of choice while completing the application process. Once completed and the home is ready, you are free to start your new life at The Davis Community.
