Fun Volunteering Opportunities in Wilmington, NC
Spring offers the opportunity to have fun by giving back. There are plenty local organizations seeking volunteers to devote their time and energy to educating and helping others.
Among them is the Friends of the New Hanover County Arboretum, which offers the chance to learn while growing. Volunteers prune, plant, weed, mulch, and cultivate the Arboretum gardens to keep them looking beautiful. As part of the Master Gardner program, some volunteers undergo additional training, so they can staff the Plant Clinic where they answer gardening questions from local residents and provide insights on the best ways to make their flora flourish.
The Arlie Gardens, meanwhile, says it’s always looking for volunteers, including garden guides that lead group tours while providing details about Arlie Gardens’ history and horticulture. There are also event volunteers, garden ambassadors, and others who donate their time at the Butterfly House and environmental programs there.
The Cameron Art Museum is another opportunity to give back. People volunteer in the nonprofit museum’s shop, answer visitor questions, and help sign up new members.
